My 29 Year Journey
Art has been my first language since childhood. What began through drawing, choreography, color, rhythm, and curiosity has grown into a 29-year multidisciplinary practice spanning painting, poetry, movement, culinary storytelling, worldbuilding, and creative wellness.
Born on Chicago’s South Side and shaped by Brooklyn and my formative years in Madison, Wisconsin, each place influenced my creative language. Chicago gave me depth and Afro-centered storytelling, Brooklyn sharpened my artistic voice, and Madison introduced me to Southeast Asian cultures that continue to influence my work.
My current body of work, Lotus Dynasty, explores where African American and Asian lineages meet through painting, symbolism, ancestral memory, and character-driven narratives.
As a Creative Wellness Artist, I create workshops and community experiences that use art as a pathway for reflection, emotional expression, connection, and learning. This includes my Art for ESL programming, where visual art supports English-language development, as well as my service as an appointed Commissioner for Women in Santa Barbara County.
My work has been featured through the Museum of Contemporary Art Santa Barbara, exhibitions, publications, and community programs. Today, my practice continues to expand through Lotus Dynasty, Big Mama Mae’s, and The Blooming Philosophy—all rooted in honoring where I come from, who I’m becoming, and the worlds I feel called to create.

While I collaborate on projects, my work also centers on helping people move from burnout back into creativity- inviting creative renewal not only in their work, but in daily life.
